Daniel Marew defends the lab's first PhD

Congratulations to Daniel Marew, the DARoS Lab’s first Ph.D. graduate! Daniel was the first student in the group to design and build custom legged robots and push them to their dynamic limits — working through no shortage of hardware failures and mechanical setbacks along the way.

His dissertation, “From Trajectory Optimization to Learning: Developing Controllers for Dynamic Legged Robots,” spans model predictive control, reinforcement learning, and imitation learning, all demonstrated on real hardware.

Thank you for everything you built here, Daniel — congratulations, and best of luck in what comes next. Announcement on LinkedIn.
