guide-dog robot

A vision-based quadruped navigation assistant for blind and low-vision travelers.

We are developing a quadruped robot that can perform guide-dog–level guiding work: leading a handler along a route, negotiating sidewalks and crossings, and avoiding obstacles using onboard vision alone. The project combines human-centered design (studying handler–guide-dog interaction), robust vision-only navigation, and quiet, stable locomotion control suitable for walking next to a person.
